Dear Miss Chandler, The picture you Sent me the other day is the one I should have chosen, Though the [cloudy?] luminary caressed the [underline] original [/underline] a little coldly at the moment, and had a trait or two that I could have wished

had shone through more tellingly. Tis very pleasing, very acceptable, and you were very kind to lend it to me. And it happens that one of myself taken by the same artist in 54 and just copied comes to hand. Will you accept [–] one as having less of age in it than the later ones.
